Mom: 'Neighbor's dog chased mine, then pounced on my son'
MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- A Myrtle Creek woman says she got quite a scare Thursday morning, when a dog came in to her house and pounced not only on her small dog, but her child.
Debra Mitchell of Myrtle Creek says she was outside her home, when a large Doberman Pinscher chased her small Dachshund into her house and jumped on it.
Mitchell was able to stop the bigger dog, but she says after she made him leave, he came back.
Debra told KPIC News that she doesn't know what direction the doberman was coming from, but next thing she knew, he was in her home on top of her baby boy. "Dobermans can be very aggressive dogs, and I also know, I guess, if he really wanted to hurt my dog or my child he could have, but it was extremely scary."
Debra says the dog made a mess of her home.
She says that the dog turned on her 2-year-old son, pinning the young boy to the ground. "My neighbor's dog isn't an aggressive dog, and I've never had these issues with him before," she said. "When the dog gets out of its kennel, he'll normally sit on my doorstep."
The Doberman is currently in lock up, and it's owner is scheduled to appear in court on February 25, to determine what will happen to the dog now.
That poor kid!! On another note, I love this reporter. I've seen a lot of her segments and they're great.

@Nick M. ....but of course not........believe me, my neighbor didnt press charges because she knows rex isnt vicious....but a doberman is stereotyped which is unfair.......my dog is a happy butt!!!!

thank you nick i appreciate it!!!!and to boot he is only 11 months old....the news made it seem like he a full grown vicious dog who got off his chain(he only on there when im at work because he escapes) and just went into a random house...needless to say after 5 days i have him back and he is happy again!!!! :)
my dog is not mean . my dog has played with her dog and kids several times. he is a people lover. yes, when he gets out of him kennel he will sit on her bench on front porch and wait for her and then goest in her backyard with her dog. the neighbor has been watching a little dog that is usuallly not there. that sparked his intrest. he has never been around a little dog. if he wanted to he would have killed that dog and bit the little boy, but he loves those kids....i think the little dog threw him off....... my dog is a love bug and when we go on walks everyone pets him along the way......i think he might have been off character with the neighbor because she was telling him no and and he could feel her energy and that threw him off to. he is not mean and lives a very good life as a family member in my home. i am very sorry for the stress he caused my neighbor and child:(

Rex is a great dog, yes it was a very scary situation...,Rex was out of character, which in my opinion had to do with the little dog we had been dog sitting..My kids have watched Rex grow from a baby,he's played with my children an my dog,from day one...
