Motorcycle rider injured in Green District crash

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- An accident in the Green District Monday afternoon sent a motorcycle rider to the hospital.

Early Monday afternoon, a motorcycle and another vehicle collided in the intersection of Hwy 42 and Carnes Road, known as Kelly's Corner.

According to state police, James Timothy Pohl, 44, of Roseburg, was behing a truck waiting at a red light on Robert's Creek Road.

After the truck made a right hand turn onto Hwy 42, state police say Pohl drove through the red light and into a Kia passenger car being driven by James Pitts, 45, of Roseburg.

State police say Pohl was transported to Mercy Medical Center with a broken leg and back injuries.

Pohl was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, as well as operating a motorcycle without a motorcycle endorsement.

Pitts was not injured, but state police say he was also cited. Authorities say Pitts was driving with a suspended license and no insurance.
