Myrtle Creek Summer Festival says 'No dogs'

MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- One change to this year's festival in Myrtle Creek: Dogs are not allowed into the park.

The annual summer event draws hundreds of people every year to Millsite Park in Myrtle Creek.

Police Chief Don Brown says due to problems in the last couple of years, they have decided to exclude dogs from the event. "Due to the number of fights we had between dogs and their owners, they won't be allowed in the festival this year," said Brown. "So please, leave them at home."

Another issue organizers had was with cleaning up after the pets.

The festival kicks off Thursday afternoon, and features food, crafts and local vendors.

There will be music and entertainment all through the event, highlighted with a concert and fireworks show on Saturday night.
