ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Those looking to take a load off while taking in nature are in luck.
Roseburg parks officials, along with the Umpqua Valley Audubon Society, have installed nine new benches just north of the duck pond near Fred Meyer.
The space is in honor of Meredith Jones, a woman who spent years leading students on field trips through the area.
There will be a celebration of the new gathering area this Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
There is also a new bench at the Stewart Park golf course by the putting green. Â It is a memorial for Jack Hayman..a long time postal carrier and an avid golf player and bowler. Â He was well known in the Roseburg area. Â The senior golfing league was instrumental in raising the money and seeing to the installment of the bench and plaque. Â Thank you!
