KLAMTH FALLS, Ore. -- A man police say was wanted was shot by officers on Tuesday in Klamath Falls, and the Klamath County Major Crime Team was activated.

On Tuesday morning, Klamath Falls Police Department officers went to the 1600 block of Portland Street for a report of a stolen vehicle. They say Matthew David Borner, 52, who had an outstanding felony warrant was a suspect.

State police say that as officers attempted to arrest Borner, a confrontation occurred.

They say during that confrontation shots were fired by the Klamath Falls Police Department.

Borner was pronounced deceased.

Authorities say no officers were injured.

Officials say that pursuant to the Klamath County Use of Deadly Physical Force Plan and Klamath Falls Police Department policy, involved officers are placed on paid administrative leave.

State police say that is standard protocol in officer-involved shootings until the investigation is completed.

In investigtion is ongoing and being led by the Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division as a member of the Klamath County Major Crime Team.
