Park cleanup looking for help Saturday
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg park makeover is almost done.
The South Umpqua River volunteer clean up project is having its final event of the year.
Every few months, dozens of volunteers have flocked to the area, clearing away bushes, trash, and making trails.
Organizer Kasi Clausen says she hopes to make the area more enjoyable for local families. "They can just come down here and bring their families and their kids and they can swim in the river and have access to the river every summer," she said. "It would be exciting to be able to see that."
Clausen says the project wouldn't have been possible without the dozens of people and businesses who supported it, including her co-organizer Ashley Hicks.
If you'd like to help on the final clean of the year, you can join the crew this Saturday at Micelli Park at 10:00 a.m
Alright, I posted what was on my mind, that's all over with now. I'm done with this. I'm not going to explain myself to a bunch of ignorant morons that don't know about the situation.
What a way to turn a positive into a negative Jessie. Rather than focus on actually accomplishing something, run to tear someone down. Your attack on Kasi on this page is just sad.
Â
What have you accomplished in the end? Made the whole project look like a joke.Â
Jessie Is CORRECT!!!
@Toni Lynn Munion Thank you Toni.
Wow, Jessie, I know nothing about your group, but I can read, and nowhere does it say in this story that Ms. Clausen is "taking credit" for anything. In fact, the story indicates she said "the project wouldn't have been possible without the dozens of people and businesses who supported it, including her co-organizer Ashley Hicks". Good job, Jessie, because in the eyes of clueless citizens like myself, you just turned what appeared to be a positive community service into a big catfight. I'm guessing no one turned up for your cleanup on Saturday, and I imagine it's pretty unlikely that anyone will want to in the future, because who wants to devote a Saturday morning to the possibility that they might step on someone else's crazylady toes? Good luck with your project. Hope things improve.
@buttermilk Also, I was just stating what has been on my mind for quite a while. I never voiced my opinions about anything Kasi was doing until now. This has building for a long time. Obviously you are clueless. Unless you were there during the project, you have no idea what happened, therefore, you don't have a clue what is really going on.
@Jessie Murphy  @buttermilk Nobody cares about the cat fight. The focus should be the park...not this BS.
@buttermilk Actually we had cancelled it a few days before because of the river, and Kasi was the one that did it anyways. I didn't even go.
Jessie not sure if you are a glory hound or if Kasi is your husbands mistress but seems like alot of hatred coming from you. lol
@JayBizz_3000 First off, I'm not married. Second, I'm not a glory hound, but I am pissed that she's taking credit for this project when she wasn't even there 75% of the time. I was there pretty much EVERY DAY and stayed for hours, where as she only showed up for an hour every once in a while and didn't even work much. Kasi has been using this project to gain credit for her job at the youth outreach center, to become manager of the youth outreach center. She did as little as she could when she was there. Most of all, she took pictures to make it look like she was working, but she really wasn't. She took pictures of our progress. She's really only doing it to boost herself up to make her look better for her job. She is paid for her organization skills at the youth outreach center, which had NOTHING to do with this project. She is claiming that is a youth outreach center project, but it's NOT. Nobody was getting paid to do this, except Kasi. No one is claiming money for this project. This was a project made up of volunteers. No one was expecting to get money out of this project, but somehow she has tied this in with her job. We just wanted to clean it up down there. She may say she is a volunteer, but she is representing the youth outreach center trying to claim it is their project. Most of all she has lost friends and the respect of the volunteers that have stayed with this project since the beginning. Myself included. She put a lot of information on the poster boards that had nothing to do with this project at all. Most of all, Ashley Hicks was the co-founder that stayed with this project the entire three months it has been going on. She was also the one that actually got this project started in the first place, not Kasi. This property, once cleaned up, was supposed to be donated to the city so they could make a bike trail/park and a bridge going to the fairgrounds. Most of all, Ashley Hicks should be the one who should be recieving the credit, that Kasi is claiming.
And if you block this comment and block me from posting on this, I should let you know that this is posted on my facebook page for ALL my friends to see! Cheers mates!
First off, Kasi hasn't even BEEN THERE! It was pretty much there were only 4 of us total except when people occasionally showed up to help. ASHLEY HICKS was in charge, NOT Kasi! She may have helped at first, but ASHLEY has put more of her own personal time and money into making this project happen! The only 4 of us that have been down there BUSTING OUR ASSES were Ashley Hicks, Greg Shively (sp?), David Acuna, and myself (Jessie Murphy), and of course Gordon Brown and Grant, when they could come down. It wasn't every few months, it was pretty much EVERY DAY for almost 3 MONTHS! It's sad that Kasi didn't even MENTION the volunteers that have put there time and effort into this project to make it happen. She mentioned the people and the businesses who SUPPORTED the project, but not the volunteers that were actually down there doing the work. When she DID show up, all she did most of the time is "rake the trails", and sometimes clean up garbage. She was only there for an hour most of the time, and she hardly did any work! You need to get your facts straight before you do something like this! Like finding out who is actually in charge of this project. Who were the ones that actually did the work, and who helped get this project started? Kasi may have helped "organize it", but ASHLEY was the genius behind it all! FYI, the party was CANCELLED, because the river is FLOODING and it's too DANGEROUS to be down there! The weather is being too unpredictable! That means she is putting innocent people in danger by bringing them down there while the river is that flooded.
