KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- A woman died in a crash with a semi truck Wednesday morning after police say a driver missed the stop sign at the intersection of Hwy 97 and Hwy 138E and drove into traffic.
The crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Highways 97 and 138E.
According to the police report, 31-year-old Alexander Pesek of Lincoln, Nebraska was driving east on Hwy 138E with his 25-year-old sister Mari Pesek (also from Nebraska) sitting in the passenger seat.
Pesek failed to stop at a stop sign posted at the intersection of Highway 97, drove his Honda Civic into oncoming traffic and was hit in the passenger side by a northbound semi-truck pulling an empty tanker trailer.
Both vehicles ended up about 50 feet off the roadway.
Emergency responders pronounced Mari Pesek dead at the scene. Alexander Pesek was taken to the Sky Lakes Medical Center in Klamath Falls with minor injuries.
The driver of the truck, Kenneth Brasser, 57 of Klamath Falls, was unhurt in the crash.
Crash investigators are still looking into the crash.
