ROSEBURG, Ore. -- With the arrival of Child Abuse Awareness Month, the pinwheels are spinning at CASA, to bring awareness to the issue of child abuse and neglect.

In Douglas County, an average of 317 kids are in foster care at any given time.

CASA Executive Director Susan Knight, says people in the community can help by reporting child abuse. "We're all in a community, we're all sort of, responsible for children. If you have children who are not being protected by the adults in charge of them, then I think the community should step up," she said.

Knight says CASA of Douglas County provides advocates for kids in foster care.

Child protective services screens and selects foster parents.
