Suspect in Roseburg standoff surrenders
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The adult male suspect that was involved in a standoff with police in Roseburg has surrendered.
At about 6:15 p.m., police say the man come out of the motel room and gave up. Police called in medical to check on the suspect.
Police officers and Sheriff's deputies were involved in a standoff with the man since about 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
People were evacuated from other rooms, and nearby businesses were locked down.

Here is the original story:
Police had surrounded the Casa Loma Motel on NE Stephens in Roseburg, after detectives reported shots fired Monday afternoon.
Stephens was shut down from Garden Valley to Winchester Ave.
Roseburg police officers at the scene confirmed to KPIC News that detectives were at the motel investigating a case when shots were fired.
They could not say if police fired any shots, or if they were only by a suspect.
Police don't believe that anyone was injured in the initial incident.
They have closed off NE Stephens while the standoff ensues. Authorities are in contact with the suspect.
Officers from Winston and Sutherlin also responded to the scene to assist.
As the sun went down, officers could be seen setting up lighting in the area.
Some officers can be seen heading into the scene to relieve others as the standoff goes on.
Police don't have an estimate about how long this could last, and are asking the public to stay out of the area.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

So all is now settled and the burg is back to the norm... the gunman is now getting bland food in jail n waiting to go upstairs and play tp dice... RPD did their job and casa can go back to slinging smack and meth and all is normal :)

I am so thankful that no one appeared to be hurt and that this has ended relatively peaceful. I don't know what prompted this man to do this, but I hope that the root cause is discovered and dealt with. Here's hoping for a safe and peace filled Christmas for us all.
I think there are lots of people that say thanks to them. They probably don't go home to read the news reports on the crap they just dealt with. I doubt that mentioning "thank you" will penetrate. People who are around them will shake their hands respectively I'm sure.Â

Ok I just gotta say to all you that have mentioned things like this causing rights to be taken away are dead wrong. Read the Constitution. Don't like the way things are going? Take the government back. We have the right to alter and even abolish our government if we don't like how they're doing things. Quit complaining about it and do something. As for the guy in the hotel? He's not crazy, just stupid.

@cvguy My kids know to stay away from my gun. I can tell you that if this guy came to my door he'd have a gun pointed right back at him. I WILL defend my family if I must. That's the only reason I have the darn thing.
