Officials: Confirmed suicide in park south of Roseburg
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Multiple law enforcement agencies converged on a manufactured home park in the Green District Tuesday morning.
Law enforcement officials were inside the River Place manufactured home park on Santiam Lane, where police at the scene say a person was holed up inside a home.
Officials at the scene confirmed that one person is dead after an apparent suicide.
Due to the nature of the case, the name of the person will not be released by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office or KPIC News.
Neighbors were visibly shaken this morning as the events unfolded. KPIC News spoke with several people, most of whom said it is a quiet neighborhood.
Maria Vaughn has lived in the park for 10 years, and she couldn't believe what her contractor said was happening next door. "He heard a pop and came in and said that something weird was going on in the neighborhood," she said.
Law enforcement officers from different departments could be seen with guns and shields drawn, as they surrounded the home on the quite street.
As for the neighbors, they are still shaken by what transpired. "I'm sorry to hear it you know, everybody in the neighborhood is kind of like, wow," said Vaughn.
River Place is just off of Carnes Road, south of Roseburg.
In a "quite" neigborhood? It is "quiet"......   Anywho, very recently there was someone on Craigs List rants and raves saying they wanted to kill themselves. I wonder if it was the same person. If it was, too bad they couldn't have been saved. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.  Lets hope they are OK now.... Â
Another life claimed by desperation. So sad to know that they felt so alone. The family, wherever they may be needs our prayers, good thoughts or whatever your belief supports. They are the left behind and as such in their own agony right now.
Sad sad sad
