ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Sheriff's deputies and officers from the Roseburg Police Department have a man in custody after a standoff Wednesday afternoon.
Just after 1:30 pm, Sheriff's deputies went to 2205 SE Booth Avenue to serve a forcible eviction on the resident, Henry Kuester, 64.
The Sheriff's office says Kuester was also wanted on a Contempt of Court warrant.
When deputies arrived and confronted Kuester, he was found to be armed with a handgun and refused commands issued by deputies.
Deputies took up defensive positions and called for the Sheriff's Office Tactical Response Team.
Negotiators talked with Kuester for over an hour but he was unwilling to surrender.
At about 4:10 pm, the tactical team deployed gas to the house and Kuester came outside and surrendered without further incident.
Kuester is being lodged at the Douglas County Jail on Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing and Resisting Arrest charges.
