Police: Man charged with homicide in fatal crash
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A 51-year-old woman is dead, and a Roseburg man is in jail charged with homicide after a fatal crash Saturday morning in Roseburg.
Police say that at about 9:30 a.m., they responded to the 3800 block of Diamond Lake Blvd. to the report of a rollover accident.
Witnesses at the scene told police that a Jeep Cherokee heading westbound crossed over the center lane and struck a Dodge Neon head on.
Police say the driver of the Neon was taken to Mercy Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
The driver of the Jeep was identified as Nathan Howard Stuart, 22, of Roseburg.
After being taken to Mercy and treated, police say a subsequent investigation led to Stuart's arrest on several charges stemming from the accident.
Stuart was taken to the Douglas County Jail and lodged on charges of criminally negligent homicide, second degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
His bail is set at $310,000.
The victim's name is not being released yet by police.
Charolette will be FOREVER missed she was such a sweet, loving, amazing kind woman. She loved the Lord and I am heartbroken to see her leave us behind. I hope this man learns a lesson but he to deserves forgiveness and I think Charolette would agree with me there. Doesn't make his actions acceptable but we are called to love and forgive. May Charolette rest in peace and her family find comfort from the Lord. I will always miss you Charolette!!
When you are drinking or doing drugs and then drive, is the most stupid thing I know of. And then when you end up killing someone because you are so stupid, Well it is like taking a gun and shooting someone in the head. I hope this guy doesn't get a second chance at being this stupid again. I think the book should be thrown at him, lock him away and throw the key away.
I know the woman this animal murdered, and I know the tremendous pain that the family is going through and will have to live with for the rest of there lives.

i cant stand people drinking whats the point in hurting your body? hurting your family and your friends but making them worrie if your ok and if you drink and drive you will also hurt your self how can you sleep at night for after killing some or killing a family and leaving there loved ones with out a mom or a dad or sister or brother or a wife or a husband do you think about wether or not to drive home it doesnt matter if you had 5 beers or 1 or just a drink your reaction will be delayed. I feel sorry to the women who was killed in this accident it should not have been her.  you shouldnt of been drinking and driving. people who think your cool for drinking well news flash your not ! its pointless and your hurting your body and everyone around you......
@countrygirl90 It doesnt state that he was drinking and driving, it states that he is being charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance which are drugs such as methamphetamines, heroin, cocaine, etc.
