OAKLAND, Ore. -- Oakland has a new community literacy program, and it's free to the public.

The G.E.D. and Job Skills Literacy Program is accepting appointments at the Fair Oaks Community Grange.

They have the materials and time to tutor, but haven't had many people walk through their doors just yet.

Literacy coordinator Betsy Cunningham, says this program is unique because of the one-on-one tutoring and real world lesson plans. "We talk to them about, "Is the GED the end, you know? Is that really what you want?" And I think the best thing we offer is, we have a lot of knowledge and resources.and educational training," Cunningham said.

They are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but they say they can work around your schedule as well.
