RHS marching band sweeps competition

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg High School marching band took home a score of medals this weekend.
The band competed in the Pride of the Northwest on Saturday, and brought home a few trophies... All of them, actually.
The group swept the competition, winning not just overall first place, but the top spot in every possible category.
Director of Bands Branden Hansen, says this is the first time the band has done that in at least a decade, and he says it all boils down to practice and hard work. "We have practices after school, practices during the day," Hansen said. "A lot of times, the students are very passionate about it. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the fired up nature of the students."
The group topped out seven other schools from Oregon and California.
Students will be competing again on November 3, this time facing 26 other schools at Hillsboro Stadium for the Northwest Association Performing Arts Championships.
