Rain causes sewage spill in Sutherlin
SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- The City of Sutherlin's wastewater system was inundated by the storm water Thursday with about 2 1/2 inches of rain, and city officials say it caused some raw sewage to overflow into Sutherlin Creek.
They say some overflow may continue until the rainfall decreases.
The DEQ has been notified, along with the Oregon Emergency Response.
City officials say they believe the risk to human health and safety is low.
They ask citizens that if they see sewer coming out of manholes, to call the city Public Works Department.
