DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Umpqua Bank officials say that they are not sending customers text messages asking for bank card numbers. Officials are urging the public to never give out your bank information.

The bank confirmed Thursday morning that customers have reported a rash of text messages going out, asking people to call a number because their card has been deactivated.

People who don't even have an account at Umpqua Bank are receiving the messages.

Bank officials say that they will never text message customers asking for bank account or card numbers.

KPIC News called the number listed on the texts, and the generic recording said to leave a message, and officials are concerned that people have left their bank card numbers on the voice mail.

Officials say if you did call and leave your banking information, you should contact your bank immediately.
