ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Congressman Peter DeFazio was in Roseburg on Tuesday to check out the public safety center.
Both the fire and police departments are housed in the building, and DeFazio says he was impressed with the complex.
He toured the area and heard first hand from both chiefs how the building enables their ability to serve the community.
DeFazio told KPIC News he was impressed with both departments. "A lot of our cities have been cutting back, and we're worried about what's going to result in regards crime and response time for both police and fire," he said. "Roseburg has at this point held the line, and I think the community can feel good about that. It's the right priority."
The public safety center opened in late 2009.
