Riddle girl crowned Jr. Miss Rodeo Oregon
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- A Riddle girl is now officially the new Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon.
Ashley Ferch, 14, is wearing her new crown after a coronation ceremony Saturday night at the Grand Victorian in Tri City.
Rodeo royalty from all over the state were there, including Miss Rodeo Oregon Shelby Ross from Sisters.
Ashley is looking forward to promoting rodeo. "I get to travel around the great state of Oregon representing the sport of rodeo," she said. "I also get to travel into upper California and lower Washington, and I get to represent Douglas County, and it's going to be fun."
The desert and oral auction of donated items raised money to help pay for her expenses in traveling around the northwest to rodeos, and she says she's very appreciative of the community's support.
Ashley is a freshman at Canyonville Christian Academy and has learned to ride on the Place of Hope Ranch in Riddle where she lives.
She will be traveling with her quarterhorse mare named Deuce.
Her duties as the new Junior Miss Rodeo Oregon have already started, and she'll be on the road a lot in the next few months.
