Sheriff: Man shot out front door of country market

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Douglas County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Roseburg man, after they say he shot the glass out of the front door of the Melrose Store.

Deputies responded on Sunday a little after 10:00 p.m., when a citizen called to report gunshots in the area of the store. The caller reported also hearing an alarm sounding inside the store, which was closed at the time.

Deputies say Roseburg police responded to assist, and they found the front door shattered.

Witnesses reported seeing three men walking onto Cleveland Hill Road from the area.

A Roseburg officer located Joseph Charles Campos, 27, of Roseburg on Cleveland Hill. Campos was detained, and the officer discovered a .22 Colt semi-automatic pistol he says was hidden in Campos' waist band.

Campos was lodged in the Douglas County Jail and charged by deputies with being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and criminal mischief, among others.

A Roseburg K-9 unit responded to assist, and police say the second two subjects were found a little over an hour later by Iago and his handler. One of them, a 17-year-old male, was taken into custody for a probation violation and lodged at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.

The other person, a 39-year-old male, was released and not charged.
