Roseburg teen killed in Saturday night crash
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- An 18-year-old Roseburg teen was killed in a car accident Saturday night on Happy Valley Road, that also injured three other passengers.
Douglas County Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported crash in the 4700 block of Happy Valley Road at about 11:20 p.m.
Deputies say a Kia SUV being driven by Kaylyn Oelrich, 18, had left and then re-entered the roadway.
Officials say Oelrich tried to regain control of the vehicle, but was unable to. Deputies say the vehicle then rolled over.
During the rollover, authorities say Oelrich was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other passengers were injured in the crash. Hector Mandera, 18, Jose Garcia, 18, and a 14-year-old Roseburg boy were all taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
Mandera was later taken to Sacred Heart at RiverBend in Springfield, where their website has his current condition listed as 'serious.'
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Officials say speed was not a factor in the crash.
They are having a celebration of Kailin's life at the County Fair Grounds. Still is very, very sad. Good for the teenage boy that was in the Hospital. He was on an induced coma in order to be able to treat him. But he is awake and better now. The trauma for all three survivors will be not be easy to deal with. God bless them all and all their families. Kailin is another angel in heaven now, with her little white wings, sitting there smiling, next to our Lord.
