Veterans group has 'no confidence' in VA hospital management

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Douglas County veteran’s group sent out a letter Saturday stating they have no confidence in management at the Roseburg Regional Veterans Affairs Health Center.

The letter came days after the VA hospital’s director, Carol Bogedain, announced she would be retiring in five months.

The Douglas County Veterans Forum is a coalition of veteran service groups in the county area. They’ve sent a letter to the new VA secretary, Robert McDonald, calling for the resignation of VA management in Roseburg.

The letter expresses a lack of confidence in the managers, pointing to what the group calls mismanagement, low employee morale, and possible corruption in attempts to hide veteran appointment wait times.

Current VA hospital director Carol Bogedain set a retirement date for January 31, 2015. In a statement she says she recognizes the last three years were challenging, but calls them ultimately rewarding.
