DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- With the small threat of some freezing rain to our north and some roads still slick with ice, schools are already making plans for Friday.
As of noon Thursday, North Douglas schools already announced they will be closed, and South Umpqua School District busses will be running on snow routes.
It has been quite a sight around our area this past week, but forecasters are predicting a little warmer weather as we head into the weekend.
Officials are still urging motorists to slow down and be aware of icy roads.
They don't want a repeat of last weekend, where law enforcement agencies in Douglas County responded to over 150 crashes between Friday and Monday morning.
Even thought the coldest days are probably behind us, it doesn't mean that you can expect the roads to be dry everywhere. A Roseburg teen was in an accident Wednesday morning on Del Rio Road that seriously injured her and left her hospitalized. Officials say icy roads were a factor in that crash.
