ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg City Manager Eric Swanson is leaving his office in Roseburg today to become Medford's new city manager.
On Wednesday, Roseburg City Recorder Sheila Cox was appointed to serve as city manager pro-tem.
She said they are hoping to have a new city manager within six months.
The city council is now discussing two options for filling that position. "Select a professional recruiting firm, and they charge usually between 20-40% of the salary of the person that they are recruiting for," said Cox. "They do a really active search, and basically nationwide."
Or, for $10,000, the League of Oregon Cities can recruit a new hire.
They will be making a presentation to the council on May 21.
