Sheriff: Police use K-9 to capture burglar

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A police K-9 is being credited with capturing an alleged burglar at a Roseburg home early Wednesday morning.

The Sheriff's office says that at about 1:45 am, deputies responded to a burglary alarm at a home in the 100 block of Cross Creek.

When they arrived, they say they found a window broken out, and a K-9 from the Roseburg Police Department was called in to help.

When deputies and Helix the K-9 searched the home, they say they discovered Joseph Tracy, 27, of Roseburg, inside.

Deputies say Tracy did not comply with them, and the K-9 was used to capture him.

Tracy had to be taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of injuries he sustained during the capture.

Tracy was charged with first degree burglary and first degree criminal mischief.
