Six family members injured in rollover crash in E. Oregon

MEACHAM, Ore. – A Salem woman and five of her family members were injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 84 in Eastern Oregon Thursday night, state police said.

A 5-year-old boy, who police said was not properly restrained, was thrown from the SUV during the crash. He was taken to a Pendleton hospital with serious injuries and later taken by helicopter to OHSU in Portland.

The crash happened on I-84 west of Meacham just after 11:30 p.m., police said.

Investigators said 38-year-old Beatriz Murillo of Salem was driving a Chevrolet Suburban with five family members inside when she lost control of the SUV on black ice. The Suburban rolled several times during the crash.

The 5-year-old boy was thrown from the SUV and landed in the westbound lane.

The other passengers, including 44-year-old Lucio Mendoza, were all taken to hospitals. Police said none of their injuries was life-threatening.

No other names were released.
