Oregon State University has an increased police presence after officials received word of a blog post violently threatening the campus Thursday afternoon.

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- A 16-year-old was taken into custody Friday after detectives linked him to a blog post threatening violence against the Oregon State University campus.

There is no known further potential threat to the campus, state police said

The teenager was taken into custody for first-degree disorderly conduct. Officials said he is an Oregon resident, however he does not live in the Corvallis area.

Detectives haven’t released details about what the post said.

"I would definitely hope they give us more information, so I can take the precautions that I need to take,” said Emilie Deremer, a student at Oregon State university.

Students were initially alerted about the threat Thursday afternoon through emails and phone calls from the university.

"I heard ‘internet threat-some sort of security breach’ but I didn't understand because they were having more police on campus," Deremer said.

Steve Clark, vice president of university relations at OSU, said they will have an increased police presence on campus and at Saturday’s football game at Reser Stadium until they get more information from investigators.
