'This is helping all of the Umpqua Valley'

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A fundraiser for 4-legged officers is coming up this weekend.

Last October, the Roseburg Police Department got Ido and Iago, two German Shepherd police dogs.

Officials say that they've since become invaluable members of the force. "They've had 23 call outs, 22 arrests related to those call outs," said Sgt. Aaron Dunbar. "Those dogs have worked everywhere from Winston to Sutherlin, so it's really a regional thing. We're not just helping the City of Roseburg, this is helping all of the Umpqua Valley."

An event about dogs wouldn't be complete without dogs, so people are invited to bring leashed, vaccinated dogs to join in the K-9 Fun Run.

It will also feature informational booths, and demonstrations of canine agility and obedience.

The event costs $25 for adults, and it's free for kids.

All of the money raised goes to Roseburg Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Office K-9 programs.

The 5k will start and end at Stewart Park.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m., and the race begins at 9:00 a.m.
