Traffic stop nets seizure of 55 pounds of cocaine

ASHLAND, Ore. -- A California man is facing drug charges Tuesday after police found 55 pounds of high-grade cocaine worth $875,000 in his car.
Hipolito Carrillo, 41, of Ontario, Calif., is charged with unlawful, possession, distribution and manufacturing of cocaine. Bail is set at $60,000.
The seizure stemmed from a traffic stop early Tuesday morning near Ashland. Oregon State Police pulled over Carrillo, who was driving a 2011 Nissan Altima. During the traffic stop, police found 25 individually sealed packages of cocaine hidden within the car. Police also used a drug-detecting dog to help with the investigation.
Two passengers, an elderly female and juvenile male, were released later and not arrested.
Investigators from the OSP Drug Enforcement Section will continue their investigation.
