FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Newly released surveillance video shows a desperate scene as a woman steals a truck with two children inside.

King County prosecutors say Natalie Hulme stole a Ford Ranger from a Federal Way pawn shop parking lot – taking two young girls still in the pickup along for a terrifying ride. Hulme, 49, is alleged to have abandoned the truck and the children to try to steal another car before a group of golfers and a bystander intervened.

On the video, you can see Colby Johnson park her Ford Ranger truck at the pawn shop and a stranger, who police say is Natalie Hulme, asking her a question.

Police say off camera, Hulme asked Colby if she was going into the store, held the door for her and then ran past her. Hulme then got into the car.

The video then shows a desperate Colby as she ran to the driver’s side of the car and tried to get the door open. Colby's 5- and 2-year-old daughters were still inside the truck.

The 5-year-old tried to open the passenger door and Colby ran to the other side but Hulme drove off.

Police say Hulme ended up on Meeker Street in Kent near Riverbend Golf Course. With two flat tires, they say she then got out of the truck and started banging on windows of other cars stuck in traffic. Records show she then got into an SUV and climbed on top of a pregnant woman and elbowed her. The driver of that vehicle jumped out and got help.

Another driver then pulled Hulme out of the SUV and she was then subdued by several golfers until police arrived.

The police report also says the 5-year-old said Hulme took her stuffed animal, tore the ear off and threatened to kill her if she didn't get out of the car.

Hulme is charged with kidnapping.
