ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A 29-year-old Glide man was injured in a motorcycle crash, that sheriff's deputies say may have been caused by a vulture hitting the man in the head while he was riding.

Deputies were called to the scene of a motorcycle crash on Saturday at around 5:20 p.m., where they found Kyle Rovetto, 29, of Glide, Ore., who was injured.

Officials say the man was heading westbound on North Bank Road in the 11000 block, when a vulture flew from the ditch across the lane of travel, possibly striking Rovetto in the helmet.

Deputies say Rovetto locked the brakes up on his 2011 Kawasaki ZX6R and lost control. Rovetto slid down the road, coming to rest in the opposite lane.

Medics arrived on scene and took the man to Mercy Medical Center, where he was treated for road rash and a possible broken collarbone.

As of Monday afternoon, there was no word on the condition of the vulture.
