Want to get an inside look at law enforcement?

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Those looking to see the inner workings of the Douglas County Sheriff's office and the men and women out on patrol are going to get their chance.

Sign ups are now taking place for the annual Citizen's Police Academy.

Officials say it's one of the best ways to fully understand how law enforcement works.

Andrea Zielinski is the Community Outreach Coordinator at the Sheriff's office, and she says that the class could answer a lot of questions people might have about law enforcement. "It's an opportunity to get to know your local law enforcement agencies, and you get to see behind the scenes and get a better understanding of what we do and why we do the things we do," she said.

Students will get the chance to hear about use of deadly force, learn about crime scene investigation and even head out to the shooting range, among many other things.

The 11-week long session is free for participants.

Zielinski says that classes fill up fast, so those who are interested should sign up now.
