Want to own a huge sculpture? This one is for sale
COOS BAY, Ore. -- It's hard to miss if you're driving along Highway 101 in Coos Bay: Mike Vaughan's large steel sculpture.
But, it may not be there much longer.
Vaughan built the sculpture out of old railroad tracks over a year ago, and now he's planning to sell it.
He says that was the idea all along. "Well, ultimately it cost me, and I went through school as an artist and a sculptor and a landscape designer, and so, ultimately it would be nice if it was a profit making venture," he said.
Vaughan is selling the 12,000 pound piece of art for $15,000.
He says he will sell it to an individual, a museum or company.
He said he has already received some offers.
