WINSTON, Ore. -- The Wildlife Safari is getting ready for their 40th birthday party, and they're asking you to join them.
It's true, the Safari has been up and running for 40 years!
To celebrate the milestone birthday, they're throwing a birthday party.
All day long on Saturday, they're offering discounted drive-thru and encounter rates.
The animals at the park are gearing up for the big day as well. KPIC News visited the park on Wednesday, and found George the Elephant practicing his happy birthday song and working on a dance routine for the big day.
But he's not the only one: Carmen the cockatiel was high fiving people left and right, and Leland the Lemur couldn't even sit still.
Officials say the milestone birthday isn't just about the party. It's also a chance to think about the impact the park has had on the community. "We're giving them that opportunity to come here and not only have a chance to be with our animals, but also learn some really amazing things about them and what they can do to help the animals," said Amber Wilson, the park's marketing director and event coordinator.
The party is taking place this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
