WINSTON, Ore. -- After the three Winston fire board members targeted for recall submitted their Statement of Justification Monday morning, the Douglas County Elections office will now move forward with the special election.
The Douglas County Elections Department received the letters from Dale Stutzman, Lyle Jefferies and Stan Keeler.
That means the department now has 35 days starting Tuesday to hold a special election.
In Stutzman's statement of justification, he says, "allegations of this recall effort are complete fabrications," and adds that difficult decisions had to be made.
At this time, officials aren't sure of the election or ballot mailing date.
