Young man dies in I-5 crash near Brooks

BROOKS, Ore. --  A 22-year-old Canby man died in a crash just after midnight Friday night.

A report from the Oregon State Police said that David Forrest was driving northbound on Interstate 5 when his 2004 Nissan 350Z drifted off the right shoulder near Brooks, seven miles north of Salem.

Forrest traveled across a grassy area and crashed into a large tree. He was the only person inside the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are looking into what caused Forrest to crash.
