ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Women glammed it up for Oscar night in their best dresses and jewelry.
Women United for Douglas County is behind the project, which is also a fundraiser.
Just like the actual Oscars, there was a red carpet where people shared what they were wearing and had a few laughs.
But, the event also supported a serious cause: the Poverty and Single Parent Family Project.
Cindy Kremser from the group, told KPIC News how they help the community. "Once you learn that there is a problem, then you have to learn why the problem exists, what pieces of the solution are already in place in the community," she said.
Kremser says the people at the event didn't have to be part of women united.
She says another fundraiser is scheduled for June to support the same project.
While the Oscar party was for women only, the next fundraiser will be open to couples.
