ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Police handling a crash Sunday afternoon got a surprise when the vehicle they were looking at was reported stolen over the police radio.

Oregon State Police were called to an accident at Roberts Creek and Highway 42 in the Green District.

They found that the driver, Jeffery Hagar, 18, of Roseburg did not have insurance. While the trooper was talking to Hagar, he overheard on his radio about a stolen vehicle matching the description of the yellow '92 GEO Metro that Hagar was driving.

He was cited for Driving While Suspended, No Insurance and Following Too Close, and then handed over to Roseburg police on the stolen car charge.

He was taken to the Douglas County Jail.
