Crews expect to keep wildfire away from Sisters, Ore.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A fire that started in a wilderness area in Central Oregon is expected to burn until fall rains put it out.
KTVZ-TV says fire managers at a community meeting Monday night told 300 residents that colder weather and an expected shift in the winds will help push the Pole Creek fire away from the town of Sisters.
But officials said they're preparing for evacuations in case the fire pushes northward to Sisters. Residents of a subdivision west of the town have been put on notice. The fire is about 7 miles southwest.
By Tuesday, the fire area had grown to nearly 7 square miles, or 4,300 acres.
Fire managers say it's burning most heavily in the Three Sisters Wilderness area.
