Swift response helps keep fire near Klamath Falls to 200 acres

BLY, Ore. – Aircraft and ground crews were in the right place at the right time Friday, keeping a wildfire east of Klamath Falls to just 200 acres.

The Ferguson Fire started Friday on private lands.

The cause remains under investigation.

Two structures were lost to the flames.

But the fire was 75 percent contained as of Monday morning, and wasn't likely to grow.

Fire managers said that, from the moment the fire was spotted, there were resources available or on the way to contain the flames.

While Oregon remains at preparedness level 5 for wildfires, aircraft and grounds crews have become available as fire managers achieve containment on some of the larger fires burning around Oregon.
