Trout fishing on tap at high elevation lakes

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- It's opening weekend for fishing at Diamond and Lemolo Lakes, but fishermen will have to battle some snowy conditions if they're trying to hook the big one.

Diamond Lake is still almost entirely covered, with about two inches of soft, slushy snow.

Officials say that there's several hundred feet of open water at the north and south ends of the lake.

Both areas are accessible by snowmobile, ATV's, cross country skis and snowshoes.

At Lemolo Reservoir, the road to the dam is plowed.

Much of the reservoir is covered in ice, but the dam area has open water.
