Douglas County athletes performed well at this weekend's 3A/2A/1A track state championships.
The 2A Reedsport girls (67) finished in second-place behind Portland Christian (80); and the Camas Valley boys took fifth at the 1A boys championships.
Reedsport's Lindsey Wright won the long jump (17-08.25) and finished second in both the high jump and pole vault. Oakland's Michelle Cottier was fouth inr the high jump. Wright's teammate Ashton Mann also took a pair of silvers in the 100 and 200 Meter Dash.
Braves sophomore Kami Freestone was second in the 300 Meter Hurdles and the 4x100 Meter Relay team of Freestone, Mann, Kaylynn Hixenbaugh and Emily Wright took third.
The boys relay teams led Camas Valley to a top five finish on Saturday.
The Hornets (Caleb Lindsey, Weston Tilton, Eli Wolfe and Richard Andreas) won the 4x100 Meter with a time of 45.11 and the 4X400 relay earned a second-place finish. That team consisted of Wolfe, Andreas, Gabe Giger and Weston Tilton.
Andreas also finished second in the long jump.
Top local performers at the 2A boys event were included Glendale senior Daniel Juneau (1st-javelin); Yoncalla's Austin Blanchfill (2nd-long jump/3rd-110M hurdles) and Keenan Blanchfill (2nd-high jump); and Reedsport senior Charles Chavtur (2nd-300M hurdles).
Glide was 10th at the 3A girls championships thanks to the efforts of Shelby Thompson (4th-100M hurdles) and Caroline Brown (5th-1500M/5th-3000M).
