LONDON, ENGLAND - Former Ducks Matthew Centrowitz and Andrew Wheating advanced to the semifinals of the men's 1500 meters at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London on Friday.

Centrowitz finiished fifth in the third heat of the first round of the 1500m with a time of 3:41.39. The top six finishers in each of the three heats automatically qualified for the semis.

Wheating finished seventh in the second heat. However, his time of 3:40.92 was just good enough to advance him to the semifinals. Wheating had the final qualifying time. A total of 24 athletes moved on to Sunday's semis.

Fellow American Leo Manzano also qualified, placing sixth in heat one (3:37.00).
