EUGENE, Ore. – The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming to Autzen Stadium, but fans eager for their showdown with the Ducks will have to wait nearly eight years.
The University of Oregon and Ohio State University announced a home-and-home football series in 2020 and 2021. Both universities announced the series Tuesday.
The Ducks will host Ohio State on Sept. 12, 2020. The Buckeyes will host Oregon on Sept. 11, 2021.
“This will be a great opportunity for our fans to be a part of an intersectional battle that has not taken place in Eugene very often,” Oregon head coach Chip Kelly said in a UO news release. “I’ve always been a proponent of playing the highest level of competition possible. I’m a firm believer that you make yourself better when pushed by the level of your competition.”
The Buckeyes defeated the Ducks in the 2010 Rose Bowl 26-17. Ohio State has not played a football game in Autzen Stadium since 1967.
“We are excited to add a home and home series with Ohio State as it provides another major conference opponent to our future schedule,” Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens said. “We have two of the most passionate fan bases in college football and the atmosphere at both Ohio Stadium and Autzen Stadium are among the best in college football. Attracting top teams to Autzen Stadium remains a goal as this is the type of matchup our loyal fans love.”
Oregon’s other upcoming non-conference opponents include a home game against Tennessee next season, Michigan State (2014, 2015) and Texas A&M (2018, 2019).
