EUGENE, Ore. -- The Marist Spartans are feeling confident as the high school football playoffs begin this Friday.
Marist is hosting Hermiston at Willamette High School, but the Spartans have their eye on a possible rematch with the number one ranked team in the state, Sherwood.
"We'd love it," says Spartans head coach Frank Geske. "We have to win a few more games before we get there, but who wouldn't (want a rematch)."
The Bowmen are the only team to knock off Marist this season, and they could face each other down the line in the playoffs.
"In 2009 we lost to them in the state championship game, and then losing to them again (this season)," says senior Austin Baird. "We need that third times a charm. Hopefully we can get them again and hopefully take them down."
Currently Marist is the third ranked team in the state.
Programming Note: The season finale of High School Gameday is this Friday at 11:20.
