OAKLAND, Ore. -- When the Oakland girls basketball team takes the floor, 6' 2" Michelle Cottier is usually the tallest player on the court.

She's also the only senior for the Oakers, and she takes her leadership responsibilities seriously.

"I just want to be the best leader that I can be, because I want to be a good role model for these girls."

Cottier has led the Oakers into competition for the league title and that's her goal this year.

She wants to get to the state tournament in her final high school season. "We just want to become a family, and get to state of course."

Michelle is also outstanding in the classroom with a 3.83 GPA, and she's already determined her direction after she graduates. "I want to attend George Fox University and major in biology, because I want to become a doctor, play volleyball hopefully, and join the mission fields."

Right now, she'd like to help the Oakers basketball team get back to Pendleton to the state tournament.
