Auburn Coach: Cliff Harris has the 'knack'

GLENDALE, Ariz. - He's done it on so many occasions this season. Cliff Harris can change the game in an instant.

"Best in the country," Auburn cornerback, T'Sharvan Bell, says about Harris. "By far, best in the country."

"If you ain't on your A-game, he can get away from you," adds defensive back Neiko Thorpe.

Harris has taken four punt returns back for touchdowns this season, and his 19.5 yard-per-return average tops the nation.

"He's one of those guys that has the knack with great punt returners," says Auburn head coach, Gene Chizik. "Obviously they have guys blocking for him, and they have guys that do the dirty work, so to speak. But when he gets the ball in his hands, he can make one guy miss and he's gone."

"A lot of punt returners don't have a great feel for it, but he feels comfortable back there," says Bell. "He's just like, 'Hey, punt the ball to me and I'm gonna do my thing with it.'"

"Everything you see Cliff Harris do, wouldn't be possible without the guys blocking up front," says Harris. "So I give all my credit to them."

So in a game with two potent offenses, and two very capable defenses, might a big play on special teams be the deciding factor?

"The whole team, there like sound based," says Thorpe. "You can tell they work on special teams a lot. So we know we have our hands full. We're looking forward to the challenge."

"I'm not predicting anything, but God willing and that's the plan for me, then hopefully I'll do it (make a big play)," says Harris. "I'm just gonna go play football and see what I can do."
