The University of Oregon baseball team ran its winning streak to seven games after sweeping Saturday's doubleheader with Seattle University, 7-3 and 4-0, at PK Park.

Reigning Pac-10 player of the week Eddie Rodriguez continued his torrid hitting, going 5 for 6 in the two games with three RBI. Jack Marder and Danny Pulfer had three hits apiece on an afternoon that saw 20 base knocks courtesy of Oregon bats.

The Ducks (12-5) received two more stellar outings by their starting pitchers as Zack Thornton (3-0) and Justin LaTempa (1-1) combined to allow just two runs by the Redhawks (2-11).

Thornton pitched the first game, striking out 10 batters in 7 2/3 innings without allowing a walk. LaTempa took the mound in the nightcap, throwing six scoreless frames, striking out four and surrendering only one base on balls.

KC Serna started the bats in the opener, driving home J.J. Altobelli with a single to left field for the game’s first run in the bottom of the third. The Ducks plated two more in the fourth on RBIs from Shawn Peterson and Altobelli, and tacked on a three-spot in the fifth, highlighted by a steal of home by Jett Hart to take a commanding 6-1 lead.

Seattle scratched for single runs in the seventh and ninth, sandwiched around a run-scoring single by UO’s Marder.

Lefty Conor Splink (0-3) took the loss for the Redhawks, allowing six runs on nine hits over five complete.

The second game featured more run production from Rodriguez, who went 2 for 3 and drove home two of Oregon’s four runs on a first-inning single right. That was all LaTempa needed as he proceeded to mow down the Redhawks during his six innings of work.

After a leadoff double in SU’s final at bat of the seven-inning finale, LaTempa gave way to Drew Gagnier, who finished things off be getting three straight outs.

Ario Evasick (0-3) went the distance for Seattle and gave up seven hits.
