CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State men’s basketball team, the 2009 College Basketball Invitational champion, will have an opportunity to defend its title as the Beavers received an invitation to the tournament and will host Boston University on Wednesday, March 17, at 7:00 p.m.

"We are very excited to have the opportunity to continue our season and play a first round game in front of our home crowd," head coach Craig Robinson said. "It’s a great reward for our players to be selected to the tournament and I know Boston University will be a great challenge. We’re looking forward to getting back to work on Monday and preparing for the first game."

Oregon State enters postseason play with a record of 14-17 on the year after finishing Pac-10 Conference play in a fifth-place tie with an 8-10 mark. The postseason appearance will be the 22nd in school history as the Beavers captured the 2009 CBI title with a best-of-three series win over UTEP.

Boston University, which fell to Vermont in the American East Conference title game, enters with a 19-13 mark as the Terriers feature four players averaging in double figures, led by junior John Holland at 19.0 points per game.

Tickets for the first round of the CBI will go on sale Monday, March 15 at 9:00 a.m. The price will be $25 for a chairback and $15 for a bench seat. Students will be admitted to the contest for free and can begin picking up tickets on Monday at 9:00 a.m. Season ticket holders will have until 5:00 p.m. on Monday to reserve their current season-ticket location.

Oregon (16-16) saw an eight-game improvement from a season ago, but it still was not good enough for the Ducks to make the 32-team field in the NIT.
