PORTLAND, Ore. - Former Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris, who was just cut from the New York Jets last week, is in hot water again - this time over a traffic stop while on his way to court.

Harris was pulled over around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Highway 219 and Scholls Ferry Road. He was cited for speeding, passing in a no-passing zone and driving without a license in his possession.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Harris told the deputy who stopped him that he was driving fast because he was late for court.

The deputy called the court to report that Harris would be running late - he was about 15 minutes from the courthouse - and the court agreed that would be fine.

However, Harris did not show up at court until 10:15 a.m. (he was scheduled to be in court at 8:30 a.m.) and a judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest. Harris will now be spending the night in jail and has a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.

It was just last Friday that Harris was arrested on a domestic harassment charge over an incident that happened outside a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in Hillsboro.

Lt. Henry Reimann with the Hillsboro Police Department said they received reports that Cliff Harris and his girlfriend were fighting in a parking structure near the restaurant.

"We understood that there was some pushing and shoving going on between the two," said Lt. Reimann.

The woman did not press charges and while Harris was cooperative with police, Lt. Reimann said officers arrested him based on the witness reports.

Harris posted bail and was released from jail Saturday afternoon.

Earlier that same week, Harris was charged with marijuana possession in New Jersey after a police officer smelled pot in his car. Harris was cut from the New York Jets on Tuesday.

Marijuana possession led to Harris' dismissal from the Oregon football team in 2011.
