The Ducks have a new defensive coordinator. Head coach Mark Helfrich officially named Don Pellum to the position Tuesday. He replaces Nick Aliotti, who retired as the school’s defensive coordinator after 17 seasons following Oregon's 30-7 win over Texas in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

The University of Oregon will begin a national search for a successor immediately.

Aliotti coached 24 years at Oregon, including 17 years as defensive coordinator.

Quarterback Marcus Mariota and center Hroniss Grasu will return to the University of Oregon for the 2014 season, the University of Oregon said Tuesday.

Both star players were eleigible to leave Oregon and seek a spot in the NFL.
